OVERVIEW:
In the early 80s, Deane Jensen introduced the classic Twin-Servo microphone preamp, which consisted of two 990 discrete opamps cascaded to provide up to 60dB of clean gain. DC servos were used to eliminate all coupling capacitors from the signal path. This resulted in a remarkably wide frequency response microphone preamp with low phase distortion.
Today the Twin Servo is considered by professionals to be one of the finest mic preamps ever made for its detailed “true to the source” sound. Unfortunately, it’s never been affordable for small studio owners, until now.
With the TS-990, we managed to adapt the original circuit for the 500 series while keeping the cost to a minimum. Combined with a great Hi-Z FET input, the result is a truly versatile mic preamp adhering to the highest standards of the professional audio industry.
